FAQ
Q: How do I qualify for the PDGA 2006 Am Worlds in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA?
A: The answers to most of
these questions are in the PDGA renewal literature we'll send out to all current
members in November of 2005. The same information can also be found in the Disc
Golf World News magazine and at the PDGA website, every year:
List of official
invitees will be determined in late January or early February after 2005 Tour Stats have been
finalized. That list and the qualification standards will be posted on the website
at that time, but 2005 current members who finish in the top 20% in
terms of points in their classification,
i.e., Amateur, Master, etc. within their State or Province should all make the cut.
All other interested
players who are 2006 current members can get their names on the waitlist.
Waitlists
The waitlists for uninvited players begins March 1. Interested
players should contact the PDGA on or after that date at
waitlist@pdga.com or (706) 261-6342. You will be asked to provide
your name PDGA# and the division in which you wish to play.
Please note you must have paid your 2006 membership dues in order to
get on the waitlist. The waitlist will be reviewed in mid-May,
after the official invitees have had ample time to register, with
invitations to selected waitlisted players being announced by June
1. Please note: the waitlist is not first come first served.
Based on the number of remaining places in each division, priority on
the waitlists will be given as follows:
1. All players who meet standards under Am Worlds criteria #2 and
Pro Worlds criteria #3 but were not within the top 25% of Points
earners in their State/Province.
2. All International Players (2006 current members who do not
reside in USA or Canada)
3. All Pro and Advanced division winners of 2006 National Tour
and SuperTour events January-June 2006
4. PDGA Tour TDs and PDGA Volunteers (Board and Committee
members, State/Province Coordinators)
5. Juniors, Women, Families (parent/child or husband/wife),
Senior Grandmaster & Legend Men
6. 2005 Tour Points - for each age bracket (Open, Masters,
Grandmasters), players with a certain minimum number of 2005 Pro or
Amateur points (these minimum thresholds to be determined when
waitlists are reviewed).
7. Amateur invitees wishing to play Pro, Junior invitees wishing
to play Amateur.
8. Any other players with Tour Points in 2005.
9. Joined PDGA 2004 or earlier - players who have paid their dues
2+ years in a row, with zero Tour points.
10. Past members who were not current in 2005 - year of
qualification
11. New Members - Players who joined PDGA in 2005 and had zero
Tour Points, or who joined in 2006.
Notes
Within each of the above categories, priority will
be given to the player with more points or to the player who was placed
on the waitlist earlier. Please note that while virtually all
waitlisted players have in recent years gained entry into Worlds, it is
impossible to predict how many waitlisted players will get in this year
due to the size and anticipated popularity of this event. It is
expected that some but not all Pro, Am, and Junior waitlisted players
will get in. As these portions of the event are expected to fill
prior to the deadline, all players should be aware that the later they
submit their entries, the greater the chances are that they will not
get in.
On behalf of the PDGA and the host clubs, we look forward to seeing
lots of players this summer. Regards and good luck!

Q:
Is there a dress code on the course?
A: Yes. The PDGA dress code is in
effect for all rounds. Please note that tee shirts may be worn during
the doubles and the preliminary singles rounds from Monday through
Friday . Competitors are NOT allowed to wear tee shirts during
the semifinals or finals on Saturday.
The PDGA Dress Code is as follows:
8.3 Dress Code
8.3.1 All players in PDGA sanctioned competitions are expected to dress
appropriately and maintain a clean and well-groomed appearance at all
Event sites and all associated functions.
8.3.2 The following dress code for all competitors will be enforced at
all PDGA National Tour and Major Events. The PDGA also recommends that
this dress code be enforced at SuperTour and lower tier events, but
this decision lies solely with the Tournament Director:
- All players must wear a shirt covering their
upper chest area. A well-tailored shirt with a fold-down, mock turtle,
v-neck, crew neck, Henley, or zippered collar, and with sleeves
covering the part of the arm from the shoulder to the elbow (commonly
known as the upper arm), shall be considered acceptable. Women are also
allowed to wear sleeveless shirts as designated above.
- No tee shirts will be allowed, except for
competitors in the Junior and Amateur divisions during preliminary
rounds only. Juniors and Amateurs shall not wear tee shirts during
semifinal or final rounds. Crew neck or V-neck shirts made of
high-performance or high-tech materials, such as Dry-Fit, Cool-Max, and
others will be allowed.
- Shirts that hang down lower than the bottom
hemline on the player's shorts shall be tucked in.
- No ripped shirts, shorts, pants will be allowed on
the course. This includes unhemmed, torn or cut "vents" at the shirt
collar.
- No offensive, profane, or obscene slogans or logos
shall be allowed on any clothing. Junior players may not wear slogans
or logos referring to alcohol or tobacco.
- Shoes or other foot coverings must be worn.
Players will not be allowed to play in bare feet. Sandals or slides are
allowed.
8.3.3 This dress code will be in effect from start to finish at each
event, including all tournament rounds. Players who do not make the
final cut, but wish to remain on site through the duration of the
tournament, will be considered spectators and will not be required to
conform to the Tour's dress code.
8.3.4 Any player in breach of the dress code will be warned for the
first offense by a Tournament Official or PDGA Marshal, may be required
to change attire immediately at the official's discretion, and will
under all circumstances be required to change attire prior to the
restart of their next round. For any additional offenses, players will
be subject to disqualification by the Tournament Director, and may also
be subject to suspension from PDGA events at the discretion of the PDGA
Commissioner.
Q:
Will there be any complimentary transportation to and from the hotel or
do I need to rent a car?
A: We are working on that. Transprtation
will be provided from the airport to the hotel and back again. With all
of the players that will be here transportation to and from the courses
should not be a problem and there are plenty of places to eat within
walking distance from the hotel.
Q:
What is the general format of the tournament?
A: You will play Tuesday through Friday. A
cut will happen Friday night and the final field will play on Saturday
- approximately half the field.
Q:
How much is the entrance fee? And where do I send the money?
A: The PDGA will be sending invitations
out. They will include all of your player information, schedules,
courses, etc. The cost is $100 for disc golf entry and $10 for
each of the field events, should you choose to enter those. If
your name was not on the invitation list, then you will need to contact
the PDGA to get on the wait list March 1st.
